JavaScript – the importance of understanding the language
What is JavaScript?
JavaScript is a programming language used to create interactive websites.
JavaScript is usually used to create polls and quizzes.
Java = JavaScript?
No, these two programming languages are very different. For more details on what Java programming language represents, click here…
Why learn JavaScript? (JS)
JavaScript is the only programming language which is used on both Front-End and Back-End parts.
- JS is installed on every modern browser, so you can start programming right away (example: Ruby and Python are also programming languages that are worth learning, but unfortunately they are more difficult to configure and install)
- Because you can use JavaScript on Front-End and can create interactive applications on your website, you will be able to immediately shape your website and add more interactivity to it
- JavaScript can be used to create extraordinary websites and faster servers
- It is used more on Front-End and has a variety of tools that allow you to create great applications
- Almost all browsers use JavaScript, but the same code written in JS can react differently in each browser. So it’s important to understand why it doesn’t work the same way on Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.
- The apparition of Ajax had a great impact, with a lot of new important functions. The most groundbreaking and important being: being able to upload/update the content on the website, without needing to refresh the page (example: sign into your yahoo mail and check the inbox. You will notice the page doesn’t refresh itself)
- JSON (JavaScript Object Nation) – the most popular transfer way to transfer data
- Libraries like Handlebars.js and Mustache.js made it possible to create useful templates like JavaScript
- On the server side: Node.js was launched to create servers in JS
- Frameworks such as: Angular.js, Backbone.js and Ember.js (MVC – Model View Controller) allow the creation of thousands of interactive web applications and increased the use of JS more than it was expected
- jQuery – it is a JavaScript library often used by web developers, which allows you to add effects to the elements, according to the class/id of them
- It can also be used to create applications on mobile devices
There are a lot of well-paid job offers for those who know how to write a JS code:
- For the majority of Front-End developer jobs, employers ask for JavaScript knowledge
- Many IT firms are looking for programmers that know Node.js (for creating servers), these being very well-paid
- Knowing MVC (model view controller) such as Angular.js, Ember.js and Backbone.js can offer you earning between $60.000 and $100.000 per year (in USA).
Right now there are tens of thousands of jobs that have as a main criterion knowing the JavaScript programming language, and that’s why you should be taking notes from this article and ambition yourself in creating web applications and getting a well-paid job.
